The apparell line Rocawear has filed a counterfeit lawsuit against a Florida retailer. The lawsuit claims that a man made over $75,000 profit manufacturing and selling counterfeit Rocawear items. The items were sold by the man’s two companies.
Lawyers for Jay-Z’s Rocawear line filed an injunction against Ahmad Jamhour’s two retail companies for allegedly selling counterfeit Rocawear clothing.The law firm Becker & Poliakoff is representing Jay-Z’s Rocawear line in a counterfeit suit against Ahmad Jamhour and his two clothing companies Bargain Wholesaler and Top Brand Wholesalers. According to documents filed in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, representatives from Rocawear allege Jamour has profited from manufacturing and selling counterfeit Rocawear merchandise. Court documents state that the amount in questions exceeds $75,000.
The Rocawear line of urban clothing was created in 1999 by then partners Jay-Z and Damon Dash. Later Dash would sell his stake in the company for $22 million, and Jay-Z subsequently sold the brand to Iconix in 2007 for $204 million. Jay-Z remains Chief Executive Officer of Rocawear products.
